Open Science Grid (OSG)
From Cidays
Open Science Grid is a consortium of universities, national laboratories, scientific collaborations and software developers whose mission is to help satisfy the ever-growing computing and data management requirements of scientific researchers, especially collaborative science requiring high throughput computing.
OSG brings together computing and storage resources from campuses and research communities into a common, shared grid infrastructure over research networks via a common set of middleware.
OSG offers participating research communities low-threshold access to more resources than they could afford individually, via a combination of dedicated, scheduled and opportunistic alternatives.
What it can provide to campuses:
- Provides integrated, common software infrastructure, with software stack for download to servers and clients. (see OSG Release Web Home)
- Provides opportunistic access to thousands of resources worldwide for computing and data storage.
- Provides support for planning, implementation, integration and use of its CI.
- Offers training at sites around the U.S. and abroad.
