[edit] Campus Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Days

A partnership of national organizations involved in distributed computing and networking (cyberinfrastructure, or CI) runs the “CI Days” activity for college and university campuses, to assist in CI planning for higher education.

This activity brings together players from the campus, region and nation to share information and plan how to provide CI for the campus. As they learn more about the campus needs, the national and regional groups in turn are in a better position to help direct the evolution of their CI services to meet these needs.

Cyberinfrastructure Functions and Resources

Background:

The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science and the National Science Foundation (NSF) are striving to encourage and facilitate the future progress of science and engineering, and to promote broad participation in these fields. Cyberinfrastructure (CI) technology is now advanced enough for a coordinated investment to make HPC tools, shared resources and important data available to all fields of research.

A partnership of CI-related national organizations, partially or wholly funded by these agencies, has come together to try to better understand and define needs, strategies, functions and roles in the creation and use of CI.
